Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of content on Niagara County Criminal History. Using the website means agreeing to all terms below. Anyone who does not agree should discontinue access.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no government affiliation. Neither it nor its advertising partners offers a service for employment screening, credit decisions, tenant evaluation, insurance underwriting, or any other Fair Credit Reporting Act purpose. The resource helps readers locate Niagara County and New York criminal-record channels. It is not a consumer reporting agency or private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

Niagara County Criminal History is an independent reference resource. We do not maintain government records, retrieve an official history, perform an official check, or submit forms for a visitor.

Our content points to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, local and county courts, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. It may also connect readers to privately operated search tools. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, governs requests to public agencies, while Executive Law §837 does not make another person's DCJS rap sheet public.

2. Rules for Using This Site

A visitor agrees not to:

  • Violate federal, New York, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, harass, or intimidate another person
  • Use content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Seek unauthorized entry to the website or its systems
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools
  • Disrupt access or impair performance for other visitors

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information reached through this resource may not be used to harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. That rule is especially important for the New York State Sex Offender Registry under Correction Law Article 6-C. Registry data supports personal and community safety, not vigilantism, blacklisting, or unlawful discrimination, and misuse may carry legal consequences.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We do not create credit reports, background checks, or any other consumer report. The website and its advertising partners are not services designed to evaluate a job applicant, housing applicant, borrower, insured person, license applicant, or program applicant. A visitor must not use any content or linked result to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing application
  • Set credit or insurance terms
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or benefit
  • Carry out another purpose regulated by the FCRA

A lawful regulated check must come from an authorized official process or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, sentence, or New York record-sealing law applies to an individual. A licensed New York attorney should address those questions.

6. No Warranties

All material and services are supplied “as is.” We make no promise that:

  • Information will always be complete, accurate, or current
  • Access will remain uninterrupted
  • Every page will be free of bugs or security flaws
  • A partner's search will be comprehensive or correct

Charges, custody, court outcomes, and sealing status change. Government offices also revise fees and procedures. Only the originating office can provide an official current statement.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to government portals, legal resources, or private search providers that we do not operate. Each destination controls its own availability, prices, data practices, accuracy, and terms. Review those terms before using the external service.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Niagara County Criminal History or the applicable content partner. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create a derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for damages arising from use of the website, reliance on its content, or use of a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, actions, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from that visitor's misuse of the website or violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. Any dispute related to use of this website must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. A new version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, with or without prior notice, when we determine that action is appropriate.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected provision will be limited only as much as necessary.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms can be directed through the Contact page.
